Vilas County to Appoint New Circuit Court Judge, Remodel Courtroom

The Vilas County board’s public property committee on Tuesday approved a bid of a little more than $622,635 to make room for a second circuit court judge and remodeling of the older of two courtrooms in the Vilas County courthouse. The county board in May authorized the expenditure of no more than $650,000 for the work. Kurt Berner of the Samuels Group, the design contractor for the project, assured the committee adjustments would be made to bring in the project on or under budget. Berner also said they’d adjust work hours to accommodate the court’s calendar wherever they could. Berner said work on the project would start mid January.
