Salvation Army Sees Extremely Light Donations This Holiday Season

The 2021 holiday season was not as good as last year for the Salvation Army. The local Red Kettle Campaign brought in about $25,000, which is half of last year’s earnings. There was a kettle at the Walgreens in Ironwood throughout the season, and there was occasionally a manned kettle outside of the local Walmart. That one kettle provided a fifth of the year’s donations. The Salvation Army is still able to accept donations until Jan. 15 to assist families in 2022. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 86, Ironwood, MI 49938. Make sure and note in the memo that the funds are for Gogebic County.
