Local residents in possession of permits for accessory buildings such as garages and then converting them into living spaces without being taxed properly were the subject of discussion at Tuesday’s meeting of the Iron County Comprehensive Planning/Land and Zoning Committee. Assistant Administrator Gerry Nasi said non-compliance will require an inspection by an independent contractor with the state to make sure all sanitary requirements are met and that there are no conditional use permit violations. Those found in violation will be required to bring their buildings back into compliance and pay back taxes on any used as residential dwellings.
