Armed Standoff During Domestic Violence Call Ends With Suspect in Custody

A man was taken into custody late Thursday night after a domestic disturbance call at a home in Oma turned into an armed standoff with Sheriff’s deputies. According to a news release from Sheriff Paul Samardich, both parties had been drinking when deputies arrived to find a “frantic” woman holding a toddler standing at the kitchen patio door. As the women let the deputies in, a man entered the room holding a rifle. Officers were able to disarm the man, and he was transported to the Iron County Jail. He was arraigned on Friday and given a $5,000 bond.
