Hurley/Ashland Coop Hockey Team Receives Donation From School Board

The Hurley/Ashland co-op hockey team has received a $500 grant per player by the Hurley School Board during its regular meeting on Monday. The district has been a part of the co-op for the last four years and every year participation has increased. The first year the team had five players from Hurley and now there are nine from Hurley on the team. With fuel price increases expenses for the upcoming season are expected to be over $18,000. The team did a lot of fund raising on its own and has over $8,000 in it’s coffers. The donation will offset some of the expenses and ease some of the demands of fundraising.
