The Bessemer Planning Commission during its regular Meeting on Tuesday reviewed zoning ordinances to be sure the city is compliant with the Right to Farm Act. Apparently there may be old zoning that could place the city in conflict with the RFA. The commission also discussed the possibility of allowing honey bee farms, as bee farms are found all over the area. Bee farms are just one of the categories of the RFA and the commission is looking into whether or not the city can and will permit honey bee farms. The commission did not take action on any decisions relating to the RFA.
