5 County Area, Including Ontonagon and Gogebic Seeing Increase in COVID-19 Cases

Ontonagon, Gogebic, Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw counties have seen a marked increase in COVID-19 cases according to an update from the Western Upper Peninsula Department. The case rate in the Western U.P. jumped from just over 350 cases per 100,000 of population to just over 439, which is just over 25%. That includes increases from all five counties. Houghton, Keweenaw and Baraga counties are all over 500. There were no deaths in the western Upper Peninsula in the seven-day period, the health department says.
