Ontonagon Experiencing Shortfall With Employee Retirement Service Debt

Last week during a meeting of the Ontonagon village council, village manager William DuPont briefed the members on the village’s debt to the Michigan Employee Retirement Service. DuPont said the general fund didn’t have enough funds to continue to make full payments after making a September 20th payment of $60,802. Dupont continues to reach out to legislators for assistance with the issue. He plans to meet with representative Gary Peters and has not heard from Senator Stabenow.
