The new roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 2 and U.S. 51 opened to traffic on Wednesday, and finishing construction will continue quietly til the end of the month, according to project development engineer Kai Kilen from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. In the next few weeks, the temporary traffic lanes will be removed, and the embankment will be modified for the removed bridge over U.S. 2. Then landscaping will be installed and drainage to protect the roundabout from water damage. Crews will also reinstall the driveway at the restaurant nearby that was removed for the project.
