Marenisco Proud to Provide This Year’s State Christmas Tree

Wednesday morning, the Michigan state Christmas tree was harvested just outside of Marenisco. The 63 foot blue spruce was selected by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, as they do every year. A brief ceremony with the presentation of the colors of the Wakefield American Legion honor guard, as the national anthem was played by a mixed group of student musicians from Ironwood, Wakefield-Marenisco and Watersmeet schools highlighted the event. A short prayer for the safe transportation of the tree to its location at the capitol. The tree is the 24th to hail from the U.P. and the second to hail from Gogebic County.
