Ironwood Begins Work on Next Years Budget, Looks At Healthcare Costs

The Ironwood township board held a special meeting to workshop the proposed 2022 budget. Supervisor Jay Kangas said there will be an 11.64% increase in the rates for health insurance in 2022, which was higher than he anticipated, and that the health insurance rate was connected with the townships reimbursement arrangement, which is contingent on contract negotiations with the labor union. The union contract expires at the end of the year, but the board can begin working on the budget while waiting for those negotiations.
