Iron County Board Reverse Decision on Tractor Purchase

The Iron County Board last week reconsidered a decision to refuse paying for a tractor purchased without board approval. The board approved a $34.000 payment for a Kobata tractor with various attachments. The board had previously denied the purchase back in August when members expressed concern that the finance committee approved the purchase without full board approval. According to county clerk Michael Saari, the return or sale of the tractor would result in the loss of about $7,000 and maintenance staff was on hand and discussed the need to retire the current John Deere tractor currently in service. The board approved the purchase.
