Hurley Student Reap Benefits of Planting and Learn About Nutrition

Fifth graders at the Hurley School have seen a project through to completion and have reaped the benefits of their harvest. The students planted vegetables before leaving on summer vacation and were led by FoodWise Educators with the Iron county Extension-University of Wisconsin-Madison as part of an agreement with the school to provide information about nutrition for students in elementary school. The students were able to take some of the veggies home with recipes and information on how to prepare them. The FoodWise educators also served refreshments to the students that were infused with herbs from the school garden.
