The Gogebic County Forest and Parks Commissions have been working together to enhance deer habitat in the area. The two entities focused on the areas arould Little Girls Point and Devils Creek, which the Michigan Department of Natural Resources considers to be deer wintering grounds. According to District Forester Winona Grieshop said most of the work involved will providefood for the animals in the spring. The plantings will grow rapidly and then give the deer much needed sustenance after the winter season. The work was made possible through a grant from the DNR’s Deer Habitat Improvement Initiative Partnership.
