Gogebic County Community Mental Health will host the ninth annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes rally on the 15th at the Wakefield VFW Post 9084. The statewide event is usually held in the spring, but with pandemic restrictions the date had to be pushed to the fall. The main goal of the event is to raise awareness of mental health matters, end the stigma related to mental illness and intellectual/developmental disabilities and educate the public on the need for equality in coverage for both mental and physical health coverage in the state. The event is free, registration begins at 10:30 am, followed by guest speakers and a short walk along Lakeshore Drive followed by a light lunch. Costumes are welcomed, this year’s theme is rainbows and bumblebees.
