Michigan State Troopers from the Iron Mountain post responded to a fatal industrial accident on Tuesday afternoon at the hydroelectric dam on Lower Dam Road in Mastodon. Employees of Waterworks Marine of Lacrosse, Wisc. were moving a bulkhead into place by a crane, when the boom of the crane snapped off and struck a worker. Aspirus EMS assisted by the Alpha/Mastodon Township Fire Department responded and found Neil Boser of Hillman, Minnesota fatally injured. The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting a follow-up investigation in the incident.
