Generous Anonymous Donation Fuels Historical Society Renovations

Work is underway on the Ironwood Historical Museum renovation project in Hurley. The roof of the building will be replaced and the arches in the clock tower will be sealed. The renovations have been in the plan for the last five years, and a gift from an anonymous donor late last year has made the work possible. Remaining costs for the renovations will come from the historical society’s savings. The old roof will be replaced with metal shingles which should last for roughly 60 years. The arched openings in the clock tower will be closed with louvers which should keep rain and snow from getting into the tower and causing leak issues. The renovations should be completed sometime in mid October, barring any weather issues.
