A Refreshing Change Draws Big Crowd to Mercer Fundraiser

What started out as event planning with COVID-19 and the health of attendees in mind, turned out to be a refreshing change as the community came out Saturday for the annual Fall Celebration put on by the Mercer Public Library. Typically, there is an annual dinner and silent auction, this year the event was free, including food and refreshments and folks could enjoy their plates sitting under an umbrella outside in the fresh air. The silent auction still took place but was done online and bidding will continue through the first of October. Proceeds from the event provide funding for library items and services that are not typically covered in the library budget, like performers for children’s programming and adult speakers for community events.
