The Wakefield-Marenisco school board has voted on mandatory masks for students while riding the bus, but not on school property. Although the board’s motion strongly suggests masking regardless of vaccination status, they stopped short of making masks mandatory, unless advisories from national, regional and state health officials state that it becomes necessary. The masking policy for buses is based on a federal mandate. Brandon Yuchasz, director of admissions, marketing and public relations, cast a dissenting vote, stating that it would be bettere to require masking now in order to “get ahead” of the probable surge in the Delta variant of the Coronavirus.
