The Ironwood Area Schools Board of Education after hearing a COVID-19 update at their board meeting earlier in the week, decided not to require students to wear masks inside the school buildings when they return next week. According to superintendant Travis Powell, the board carefully analyzed the district’s legal obligations and requirements and decided not to make a change in policy at this time. The current policy will remain in force until such time as conditions make a change necessary. If a student tests positive for the virus, parents will be notified quarantining is necessary and will allow the parents to determine their next course of action.
