Several businesses in Ironwood had a couple of special guests on Tuesday. Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrest kicked off their U.P. Jobs Tour with a visit to Jacquart Fabric Products and Cold Iron Brewing. While touring Jacquart, Whitmer said the U.P. is an important part of the Michigan Jumpstart Initiative, and the trip was to engage directly with communities and the businesses in them. She cited support for GCC as well as creating affordable housing and childcare as just a few of the priorities of the Jumpstart Initiative. The tour continued in Houghton yesterday touring a defense manufacturer and forest products facilities.
