The Gogebic-Iron County Airport Board has scheduled a special meeting for the 22nd to hear proposals from three passenger airline companies who will present bids to be the next Essential Air Service carriers for the area. The airport qualifies for the EAS subsidy for a commercial operator to provide regular passenger service using a combination of U.S. DOT funding and matching funds from both counties.Denver Air, Southern Airways Corporation and Air Choice One have expressed interest in taking over the service formerly provided by Boutique Air. All three airlines were previous applicants when service was due to be renewed in 2020.
