The city of Bessemer honored area veterans with the annual Tree of Honor ceremony midweek. Each year, the Fourth of July committee holds the event to pay tribute to area veterans by reading their names as a plaque is placed on the Tree of Honor. The ceremony included a performance of the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America by Miles Mykkanen, as well as the reading of the vets’ names and those who honored them as well as the playing of Taps by Marty’s Goldenaires Drum and Bugle Corps bugler Myron Re.
