Fourth of July celebrations in Wakefield and Bessemer marked the return of being able to celebrate in person after the cancellation of practically all social events due to COVID-19 for the last 16 months. In Wakefield, a community picnic in Eddy park drew a crowd that filled the pavilion and spread throughout the park lawn and lake area. Lightning by the Lake drew a good crowd as well, with the show dedicated to Debra Granato and Joe DelFavero, who both passed last year and were a driving force behind the holiday event. In Bessemer, the fly over from the 148th Fighter Wing of Duluth, Minnesota was one of the big highlights.
