There was a good deal of haziness and the smell of smoke in the area yesterday, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s office posted on their Facebook page that it was believed the smoke originated from forest fires out west and in British Columbia. The Sheriff’s department was not aware of any local fires in the area. According to the NWS, a special weather statement said to expect reduced air quality from fires in Canada being transported by northwood winds behind a cold front. Rainfall today is expected to reduce the impact of those wildfires.
