Sheriff’s Deputy Could Face Jail Time

The Michigan Attorney General has announced that charges will be brought against Gogebic County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Voit, after an incident in 2020 involving an inmate. Voit will be charged with misdemeanor assault and battery with a possible 93 day sentence, and misconduct in office by a public official which is a five year felony. Voit is scheduled to be arraigned on the 21st. The charges stem from an investigation led by the Michigan State Police.
