Ironwood has been awarded grant funds to help investigate residential water service lines to determine which contain galvanized steel. The $125,000 Drinking Water Asset Management grant was awarded by the state Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy and was funded by the Michigan Clean Water Plan. Ironwood will be responsible for examining approximately 300 random service lines to ascertain the type of material they’re made of, which will determine how many service lines will need to be repaired over the next 20 years.
