Seeforellen Brown Trout Stocking Becoming A Success Story on Lake Superior

SEEFORELLEN BROWN TROUT STOCKING BECOMING A SUCCESS STORY

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has stocked Lake Superior with roughly 25,000 yearling brown trout at Saxon Harbor. Stocking seeforellen trout provides quantity and quality game fish while helping other lake fish thrive. The brown trout programs are also stocking other points along northern Wisconsin’s Lake Superior shore, and the longer, leaner seaforellen survival rate is much better than the heavier St. Croix trout that were previously stocked and the seeforellen are now considered the mainstay of the fishing program.
