MUSICAL FOCUS CHANGES FOR GRADE SCHOOL
The Wakefield-Marenisco Board of Education has voted to end a grade 7-12 choir class in exchange for a new band option. Interest in the choir has not been strong in recent years and that band students have had only limited time to practice. The decision will allow students to participate in a more intensive band experience and might encourage the better players to become student mentors, including taking on responsibilities for the band outside being a player. The choir could perhaps transition to a choral club as an after school activity.
