LOCAL STUDENT AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP
A recent graduate of Gogebic Community College is one of the 72 recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship. The award will provide her with up to $40,000 a year to complete her bachelor’s degree. A press release from GCC stated that the school is extremely proud that Jailynn Sprewer of Bessemer was one of only four students in the state of Michigan to receive the award, a huge honor for her and GCC. Scholarship recipients were chosen from more than 1500 applicants from 398 schools in 44 states and the District of Columbia.
