Weather Delays Work on Bridge Replacement in Ontonagon County

WEATHER DELAYS START OF REPLACEMENT BRIDGE WORK IN ONTONAGON COUNTY

The changeable nature of the weather has held up work on replacing two bridges over the Firesteel River near Greenland, in Ontonagon County. The project was due to start last month. The new bridges will be built off alignment to minimize traffic impact and should be finished in the Fall, with the old bridges set to be demolished sometime in the Spring, well after the new bridges are completed. Single-lane closures in the work site are expected to last through the end of October, according to MDOT’s announcement, with one alternating lane of traffic maintained via traffic regulators.
