Public Comment Sought for Shooting Range in Ontonagon County

Public Comment Sought on Environmental Assessment for Shooting Range in Ontonagon County.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment for a proposed indoor public shooting range in Ontonagon County. The shooting range and meeting facility would be built at the existing Lake Superior Sportsman’s Club indoor-outdoor range location, which is along M-64 west of Ontonagon. The DNR has asked the Fish and Wildlife Service to issue a modification to a Statewide Shooting Range Grant to approve the construction of the new facility. Public comments will be accepted for a 30-day period, which ends April 18, 2021. Written comments or questions may be sent to via email at burfordl@michigan.gov.
