The next step in Wakefield’s water project is underway. According to the Daily Globe, the application for a loan of just under $3 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s rural development division should be submitted this week. During a virtual meeting of the Wakefield City Council, U.P. Engineers and Architects reported the progress. Matt Treado said the hope is to get a response to the application by May. Treado says then the next step would be advertising for bids for construction. With the failures experienced at the end of February, Mayor Dale White said it’s clear there is an urgency to resolve issues with the city’s water system. A benefit of the recent issues is that city employees had first hand experience in working a system failure.
