Local Schools Hosting American Red Cross Blood Drives to Earn Scholarship Dollars.
Four area schools will host blood drives over the coming weeks. The American Red Cross offers schools a scholarship program that gets their students engaged to volunteer, contact donors, try to recruit their fellow students, and credits students for units they collect throughout the school year. Schools can earn anywhere from $250 to $3,ooo in scholarship assistance. Schools are free to use the funds as they see fit. Bessemer, Ewen-Trout Creek, Ironwood and Hurley all have drives coming up in the next few weeks. The schools all also plan on hosting drives again in May and June. The program runs through the end of June.
