A mild winter can mean less snow and fewer winter related activities, and in spring can mean a reduced chance of Spring flooding in the area. According to the Daily Globe, Heidi DeRosso, director of Gogebic County Emergency Management and 911 coordinator says no major flooding is expected in the next few months. Additional rain or snow could change that situation, but the office of Emergency Management monitors river and lake levels and receives weekly updates from the National Weather service. DeRosso says frost levels could become a concern if the area sees heavy rain events over the next few weeks, but thusfar no weather patterns suggest heavy rain.
