Ironwood Public Safety Department Members Honored

IRONWOOD PUBLIC SAFETY STAFF HONORED FOR LIFESAVING WORK

Ironwood Public Safety Department members were honored Wednesday for their work in the field that saves lives in the past year. Lt. Michael Rimkus was given the Meritorious Conduct Award for helping prevent a possible suicide. Officers Any Leiphart and Paul Rickard were awarded the Recognition of Life Saving Award for performing CPR on a victim until medical teams arrived on the scene. All offiers in the department are trained in CPR and first responders, and according to Andrew DiGiorgio, director of Ironwood Public safety, the department is halfway towards its goal of certifying all its officers as emergency medical technicians, which will greatly enhance medical service to the community.
