Ironwood City Commission Votes on Change to Marijuana Ordinance

Changes to the adult use marijuana ordinance that would identify zoning requirements for commercial growing operations or retail operations directly adjacent to residential areas has been approved by the Ironwood City Commission with a 3 to 1 vote during their meeting on Monday. According to the Daily Globe, the ordinance has specific guidelines for conditional use permits and the amendment would identify zoning requirements and has a planning recommendation for adoption. Director of community development Tom Bergman says residents adjacent to the affected zones would be notified of any changes in writing. Joseph Cayer was the single no vote, and he expressed concern about allowing retail marijuana or growing operations near residential areas.
