Improved Ambulance Service for Watersmeet on Hold

IMPROVED AMBULANCE SERVICE FOR WATERSMEET ON HOLD

A contract with an ambulance company in Land O’ Lake intended to help provide faster ambulance response is on hold. The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners met midweek, and minutes from the ambulance committee said the Gogebic Iron Medical Control Authority indicated issues, including the fact that the ambulance service isnt licensed to operate in Michigan. Committee Chair James Lorenson said that a meeting with Beacon Ambulance Service, Watersmeet Township and Fire Department, the Lac View Desert Tribe and other stakeholders are working to explore possibilities to better service the area. Beacon Ambulance said it may be possible to provide an ambulance and staff in the Watersmeet area, since adding new vehicles and other equipment.
