Agreement Reached in Former Fire Chief’s Court Case

AGREEMENT REACHED IN FORMER FIRE CHIEF’S COURT CASE

The criminal case against a former Chief of the Hurley fire department is drawing to a close after a deferred prosecution agreement in the case was accepted earlier this week. Darrell J. Petrusha was charged with one count of identy theft in his alleged misuse of a fire department credit card for personal expenses. The agreement means that if Petrusha avoids any other criminal charges for the next six months, along with some other conditions that have already been met, his case will be dismissed. If any of the agreement’s conditions aren’t met in the six-month period, the case would revert to where it was in the legal process prior to the agreement and the parties would set a date for trial.
