An unidentified man is in custody at the Ontonagon County Jail after attempting to run from officers in a stolen vehicle. According to the Daily Globe, a County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling in the Village late Friday night, when he saw a vehicle that had been reported as driving recklessly and whose occupant had earlier stolen gasoline. The deputy attempted a traffic stop and the suspect vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed, surpassing a 100 mph. The driver lost control of the vehicle in Rockland and abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. The suspect was located attempting to hide in an outbuilding adjacent to a residence. The man faces four charges of flee and elude a police officer, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and larceny for the theft of gasoline. The suspect’s name cannot be released until he is arraigned in 98th District Court.
