The usual and routine work of grooming snowmobile trails in Ontonagon County quickly turned into a small setback for the North Country Snowmobile Club, UP. According to the club, the driver was working in the Lake of the Clouds area, and had finished about 7 miles of work when the grooming tractor caught fire. QWhat started the fire is under investigation. The NC Snowmobile Club has started a fundraiser for repairs or replacement of the grooming equipment not covered by the club’s insurance or reimbursed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. So far, the fundraiser has brought in nearly a quarter of what they hope to raise. The North Country Snowmobile Club is a non profit, volunteer organization.
