The Norrie Club in Ironwood celebrated its 12th annual “Light Up The Night” Christmas Tree Burning Party & Snowshoe Hike this past Saturday evening. The event was held later than the typical January event due to COVID 19 restrictions, but was larger than usual, said Steve Lehto, president of the Norrie Amateur Sports Club, the Ironwood organization that organizes the bonfire celebration behind their Aspen Street clubhouse. 287 Christmas Trees on the main pile, several wreaths and Two Gnomes… 165 Trees staged around the perimeter to keep the fire fueled. 452 total trees which smashed the old record of 405 set in 2015!!! The evening temperatures were quite cool, but the heat generated by all those Christmas trees kept things warm and toasty. A campfire was started early so the kids could roast marshmallows provided by the members of the Club.
