An Ashland man was arrested this past weekend following a police chase that ended when the sports utility vehicle he was driving crashed into the side of a home at the intersection of 11th Street West and Chapple Avenue. According to the Ashland Daily Press, an APD officer saw an SUV traveling south on Ellis Avenue at high speed, passing the patrol car. The officer attempted to catch the vehicle, which he estimated was traveling at over 85 mph. The vehicle turned west on 11th Avenue and again accelerated to high speed, losing control at the intersection with Chapple Avenue and struck the house but was not injured in the crash. The driver, identified as Nathaniel Ecklund, 23, of Ashland, was arrested on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated, recklessly endangering safety and fleeing an officer.
