Mt. Zion Snowmaking Delayed

Although the ski hill at Mount Zion is open, folks wanting to tube will have to wait at least another week and half. According to The Daily Globe, Director of Mt. Zion operations Jim Vanderspoel says the delay is due to a broken pump in the snowmaking machine. The part has shipped out from Italy, cleared customs in New York but has been held up in Chicago. Once the part arrives, hopefully in the next couple of days, Vanderspoel says he hopes to have the snowmaking machine up and running in a half day. Completing good snowmaking should take about ten days. Gogebic Community College plans on snowmaking upgrades this summer, to the tune of approximately $55,000.
