Iron County Worker Killed / Airport Board Investigating Complaints

An Iron County Road Commission worker was struck and killed while on the job yesterday afternoon. A man from Newald, Wisconsin driving a pickup truck hit the worker in a marked work zone pinning him between the truck and his work vehicle. The driver of the pickup was airlifted to Wausau and hospitalized. The road commission worker died at the scene. The accident occurred near the Paint River Bridge. No names have been released.

The Gogebic-Iron County Airport Board is investigating reports of passengers not being able to carry on skis on local flights. According to the Daily Globe, the question of skis was part of the interview process with Boutique Air and other airline applicants during the Essential Airline Service interviews in 2019. Boutique Air is working with the TSA to adapt current policy regarding skis being stowed in the cabin.
