Businesses Struggle to Recover After Downtown Fire

A fire in downtown Ironwood has local businesses struggling to recover. Utilities are down, and there is no sure date as to when water, electricity and heat will be back on. According to the Upper Michigan Source, Paul Mlasko, owner of Mlasko Insurance Agency, says right now, his business is unable to operate. Mlasko’s business has smoke damage, and with COVID 19 safety guidelines, he’s unable to make home visits. The insurance agency isn’t the only business affected by the fire, Brad’s Barber Shop and Bea’s Beauty Salon had heavy smoke and fire damage. Certainly for the barber and beauty salon, relocation will probably be the only way to continue doing business, and if utilities aren’t restored, Mlasko may have to look at another location, at least temporarily.
