Chaos and violence yesterday as hundreds of pro-Trump rioters swarmed the Capitol building, at least one person was shot dead, forcing the Senate to evacuate and Vice President Mike Pence to be ushered to a secure location. Despite the fact that he was part of a group of representatives protesting the electoral college vote that would certify President Elect Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 election, Republican U.S. Representative Jack Bergman has said that the violence has to stop, that, what has been happened yesterday is disgraceful. Democratic U.S. Senator Gary Peters says he is safe and secure, and said today’s attacks on the Capitol are “ dangerous, unacceptable and an attack on our democracy—and must stop.”
