Another Snowmobile Fatality in Iron County

An accident involving a snowmobile has claimed another life. An unidentified man was the second in a two sled caravan. According to the Iron county sheriff, the man on the lead sled checked behind him at a certain point and didn’t find his friend. Apparently the rider failed to negotiate a curve in the trail, veered off and hit several trees. Deputies, Hurley Snowmobile Rescue and Beacon Ambulance were dispatched to the scene and rendered aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene by Iron County coroner Diane Simonich. The man, 38 was from Minnesota and remains unidentified until his next of kin has been notified. Gogebic-Iron Victim Services is assisting the family. The crash remains under investigation. This is the third accident involving snowmobiles or utility vehicles in the area this month.
