PFAS Funding Veto Concerns

In an unusual move, five U.S. House members from Michigan are urging Governor Gretchen Whitmer to reconsider one of her line-item vetoes in the state budget.

A letter has been sent to the governor saying they’re “deeply concerned” about the veto of 15-million dollars in grant funding for airports to test and monitor for PFAS contamination. The letter went on to say there is a high probability of PFAS contamination in groundwater near airports and add the chemicals pose a threat to both public health and the state’s economy.
