Hunters Shoot An Eagle

Two hunters from downstate admit they shot an eagle in Manistee.

Two Department of Natural Resources conservation officers found the wounded eagle, and it was euthanized on Monday after staff at a Leelanau County rehabilitation and research facility determined it wouldn’t survive surgery. Two men admitted to shooting the eagle, which they believed was a goose as it was flying across the sun on Saturday morning. The Manistee County prosecutor’s office will review the case to determine if charges will be filed.
